Comments: Today's goal was to summit Adam's while exploring a few new trails to check off the guide book. Going up Airline snowshoes were the way to go up to above treeline. The trail had been broken out yesterday by a pair of bare booters, but unlike last Friday when I was on Valley Way the damage wasn't too bad. There was plenty of dry, loose powder to fill the holes back in with my snowshoes. The snow is still extremely loose and could use some more snowshoe love and really pack it down and let it set up. Once I got above treeline the snow changed from 8"-12" drifts to a firm, styrofoam that was almost totally supportive. And I changed to Hillsounds. But spruce traps were a big concern, and I proceeded cautiously. Once I got by the intersection of Gulfslide it was pretty much a series of hard, windswept snowfields to the summit. I had lost track of the carins on Airline at that point and just started heading up. Then carefully traversing the snowfields back down to the junction of gulfside and Airline. Descending Airline I put my snowshoes back on after entering the trees and kept them on back to the car. Scar trail was completely unbroken all the way to Valley Way, be warned there are a few sketchy drops on this trail. Valley Way is shaping up nicely and a good track is starting to form. On the way out I took a left onto Brookside and broke that out all the way to it end at the junction with The Link. From there it was a easy cruise back to Appalachia parking lot
