Comments
Comments: Beautiful albeit cold day today. We chose to stay in the shelter of trees to hit up another January peak. We only saw 9 others today. Four of them thought it would be more fashionable to carry their Tubbs on their packs. I cannot imagine why unless they were weight training. We wore our Tubbs from the car to the summits and back to the car. You could hike to junction of Avalon and AZ without them but after that , the trail is very soft and powder snow! Beyond that point. No postholes for us except when we leapfrogged with those four dudes. There was a good amount of drifting between Field and Willey but what a winter wonderland! We had no plan to hike to Tom but I did notice , the trail looked blown in with fresh powder when we hit the Willey range trail. On the way back down, I noticed it had been broken with postholes ( the same 4 dudes came from that way) . :(
