Plenty of snow! In order to preserve good ski trail, it is highly recommended to wear only snowshoes or skis up or down the ski trail. I’d also recommend this for the Old Path or New Path too. When the ascent is less grade there were too many punch throughs making the trail snow surface less than enjoyable, especially near the col between south and north peaks. When the Path ascending steep, it was fine. Overall those spiking were punching two to three feet in. Snowshoeing and skis are the way at Doublehead. Great views. Don’t forget to go all the way to the end of South spur for an excellent view. I had to bust it out from the summit. It’s only 50-100 yds. |
