Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Drifts
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Fully ice bridged
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: An awkward crawl under about 1.2 miles after the water crossing. 6-8” diameter. More snow would make it easier/possible to get over. Two tenths later there’s a large fir tree down with the tip of it crossing the trail about 6 feet up. It is easily ducked under right now. Small diameter.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw one happy pup who came up from Gale River Trail. The route that we took today would be a great dog hike as the water crossings are all bridged.

Comments
Comments: Snowshoes went on after the bridge on Little River Road (please don’t wear spikes or snowshoes on the bridge) and stayed on until the same spot on the way back. The trail was broken (as is Fire Warden’s up Hale) and in great shape. Around 4,600’ (very close to the first view on North Twin) the trail was completely blown in so snowshoes are 100% necessary. After the summit of North, we ran into the only other hikers that we saw, 2 people and a dog who came up from the Gale River side. In addition to us, I believe that there is a group of at least three doing a traverse up Gale River and down North Twin.
