Comments
Comments: Saw no one. Took the ski trial to the junction of Greeley Pond and Mt Osceola Trail. This way is ONLY for skis and snowshoes. There is a sign but not everyone can read, and there are some deep post holes. Osceola trail was packed and easy going with snowshoes, until it went up. Luckily with my snowshoes I was able to get enough traction for the ascent. There is a bit of hard snow to grab into still but in some spots its ice underneath. East Peak over to Osceola snowshoes needed as the wind has blown snow and there are some drifts. The chimney, there are three ways to go up. 1. Straight up "the Chimney" 2. slight right and you'll get up but hope that is not how you have to go down. I removed snowshoes and used spikes. 3. Go far right and thats the way I came down. Snowshoes back on over to Osceola and back to East Peak. Then the fun began. Spikes went on (glad I had a fresh new pair) poles retracted and the only way down is on your butt. Seriously. It will be fast if you let it rip, don't I did and luckily caught a tree, and then used a more controlled slide. There is a nice luge forming with some powder to stop you just at the right moments. About 10 minutes later I was back into the snowshoes to finish up.
