Perfect conditions for a winter hike. The trails were well packed down. We used microspikes from the car to the Bald Peak then switched to snowshoes as snow was a bit softer and to benefit from the televators. We kept them on all the way back to the car. Conditions on the ridge were about the best that I've ever had. Packed snow made for easy ascents and descents. We arrived at 7:45AM with only 2 other cars in the lot and didn't see anyone until we were up along the ridge. We met more people opting for late starts on our descent. Nice to run into Eric Todd Sweet, Philip C., & their friends as well as Postal Patty, Karen & Cory and others to celebrate the fabulous day. |
