Comments
Comments: The white sidewalk is *amost* ready for microspikes/bareboots from bottom to top, but we wore snowshoes door to door (with the exception of half of the descent down North, which I donned Hillsound Pro’s for). There are a few “swallow-you-whole” postholes but they’re on the sides of the trail and easily spotted. Snowshoes are really the right idea to help those water crossings fully bridge…you can see where the post holes decimated some of the bridges. At about 3900 feet heading up South Slide the drifts had filled in the trail, with another 1-2in of fresh powder covering the tracks. Once on the ridge the crazy drifts made an appearance, which was alot of fun (until my hiking buddy got sucked into a spruce trap up to his *ahem* lol! Some of the drifts were over 2ft deep, but trail finding was pretty easy with the tree spacing. Both overlooks were broken out, but no views to be had. North slide descent was…tricky. Lots of loose snow, but no ice or rocks to impede. My snowshoes were taking me for a bad ride, so I swapped into Hillsound Pro’s for the descent. A lovely day all around for my 100th grid peak!
