Ski area was hopping, so had to park down in lot 8. There is a groomed parking lot ski trail that starts at the split (e.g. top of Pipeline XC ski trail) and goes by the hiking trail head. Basically able to snowshoe to/from the lower lots. |

| Comments: |
Mt. Tecumseh Trail up to the split was fairly well packed, snow surfaces varied by elevation. Soft in places down low, with Microspikers (including some carrying snowshoes) installing new postholes today. Middle elevations were fairly firm. Upper elevations had a sugar snow surface, which made Microspiking laborious by the looks of it, as the spikes couldn't get purchase. Snowshoes provided ideal traction throughout, and leave the trail in equal or better shape for future hikers.
The Mt. Tecumseh Trail summit loop (right at the crooked sign) hadn't seen any use since the storm a few days ago. Trough was partially filled in with a crust. Snowshoes ideal.
Snowpack ranges from a little over a foot at the trailhead to probably 3 feet higher up.
Despite overcast skies, the summit views were nice because of an undercast at about 3,900 feet. |
