Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I was first in at 8am, and last out about 4:30pm. Yes, I'm slow with a fair amount of dawdling. Lot was a bit slushy.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes, Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Couple of small streams had stable ice/snow bridges; no issues
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Noticed various blowdowns in the vicinity of Bald Peak Spur; and up a bit at about 2500'. A number of step-overs were cleared while I was out (saw fresh cuts on my return) -- thanks to the trail maintainers!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: One very nice pup with a woman going up to Bald Peak.
Bugs
Bugs: I saw one Snow Fly. A small six-legged bug, crawling across the snow. I googled to identify it, and found an article, "Curious Nature: Some bugs are at home on top of the snowpack."

Comments
Comments: Bareboot to first summit then spikes til the parking lot; snowshoes went for a ride, and the down puffy never needed to come out. Absolutely beautiful undercast all around! The Franconia Ridge from North Lafayette all the way to Flume was gorgeous with the clouds below. The Osceolas and Tripyramids were popping up too, and Moosilauke was beautiful. Fun to look over at Cannon as well, with clouds around it. A very quiet hike, as there was almost no wind at all. Met Remy and Ro and had some very nice chats, and another couple of pairs of hikers up top. In the lot met Grid finisher Kyle, along with his hiking companions. There was a group of about a dozen Boy Scouts who had stayed at Lonesome Lake Hut; a leader told me they were from Mass, and the younger kids were only doing North Kinsman while the older ones, teens, went on to South.
