Comments
Comments: Please bring snowshoes for the ski trail. Ski trail was packed with little evidence of the doomsday post-hole warnings from Saturday (there were a few isolated post-holes). Almost no ski tracks to speak of however. Snowshoes up Mt Osceola Trail to East Peak. Steep sections were a little spicy - mixture of other hikers in snowshoes, spikes, and full crampons. Snow conditions were soft and deep enough to not necessitate crampons, at least today. Some of our group used ice axes and some used poles on ascent. Small patches of avoidable buried ice. Bypass of the Chimney bypass was broken out. No wind, beautiful undercast from Mt Osceola. Snowshoes down to East and then switched to spikes (and axes) for descent. Snow was pretty sticky. Most hikers were not butt-sliding bar a few but the trails were still in okay shaped and not luged-out.
