Comments
Comments: Nice lowkey hike in the beautiful snow covered woods today. Snowshoes all the way. Took Boulder Loop up, breaking trail for about halfway until the snowshoer behind me took the lead. Up Boulder trail there was a good and mostly non postholed track beneath the 5ish inches of new snow. Most rocks covered up, very mildly bony. Took Mount Major trail down, the worst section was right off the summit- postholed frequently and deeply with quite uneven footing. After this the trail is generally choppy with edge postholes. Not as terrible as I expected it to be. The half mile or so to the parking lot on Mount Major Trail is hard packed and a little bony and could be taken with spikes/bareboot.
