Comments
Comments: Had the entire hike to myself. Barebooted on a lone snowshoe track that was as hard as concrete for the first mile, then switched to snowshoes. Found the high point on Ragged East, chose not to head over to Old Top as the summit was encased in fog.

After East Peak, I was hesitant on going to West as I didn’t really want to be hiking out with my headlamp, but I did try. Along the ridge, I was crisscrossing with recent and large bear tracks. The snowshoe track that I followed to East summit stopped after about 100 yards on the ridge where I “broke” trail on a very supportive snowshoe track with an inch of powder on top. About halfway to West and just after a steep section that offered a rope, I found an even steeper section with no rope and no reasonable way to descend (that I could immediately see) without sliding down. I decided to call it a day at that point and will tackle West peak from New Canada Rd another day.
