Comments
Comments: Surface conditions are real nice right now. I put snowshoes on at the start of Webster-Jackson however it is firm up to Jackson. WCT heading to Mizpah it is well broken but I snowshoes are certainly the best choice for this section. There are some super thick spots with all the snow-bowed spruces, at times I was crawling in the tunnel. I tried to clear some snow off these trees but it wasn't working out, it's caked on and frozen. By the time I hit Pierce I had to change shell jackets since the one I was wearing soaked through (tip: bring two shells).

Crawford Path to Eisenhower loop had a little drifting, there were occasional posthole. Snowshoes recommended here. Visibility was about as poor as it can get without being in a blizzard. It was lightly snowing, at times it felt like freezing rain, but very little wind.

Crawford path below Pierce is sidewalk conditions, firm and fast, so I swapped to spikes to bomb down the last 2 miles. In my mind I was Kilian Jornet but in reality just clumsy hiker, stumbling ever few strides, trying not to tear ligaments or yard sale down the path.

The trails were not crowded today, probably because of the weather. Just a few groups and a few solo hikers mixed in. Nice meeting Beth Zimmer and her crew today!
