Comments: I wanted solitude and found it with this 10.4 mile rugged loop hike. Road walked to Mt Meader trail. No one had been on this trail for some time…. Snow supported me for 1st mile then I was punching thru in my tubbs flex alps. I’m 213lbs with a 20 lb bag so it was challenging. Steep parts I was sinking 2ft then sliding back with soft deep snow under a thinning crust. Made it to the ridge and decided I could go on…. No one has touched Meader ridge trail but the Moose…. They’ve had a party up there on that 2 mile stretch… they’ve also been bedding right in the middle of the trail. Great views and hiking in the alpine zone. Took Bicknell ridge down… there was a lone snowshoe track but it was a while ago. Unfortunately I got off trail a few times following it but Gaia put me right back on. Took shoes off at emerald pool junction…. Sidewalk last 0.7 miles out so I barebooted with no issues. Great day but a lot of work…. Well worth it. I did see Bear tracks on Mt Meader trail several times that were probably a few days old.
