Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The road was plowed but snowy/icy and goes along the Lovell River without a bank at times so be very careful. Not sure how 2WD would do but probably fine with care. The parking was plowed and marked! I'm glad I checked as I almost just parked in a plowout a tenth or two of a mile away. No one there at 3 or 5pm.

Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: No sign at the start of the snowmobile trail or the footpath as the guidebook says. If there was a cairn, it was under the snow. The path was blazed in red and, with an exception or two on the first big ledge where they were likely under the snow, was blazed well enough. I think there were a couple mid-large duck under blowdowns 15-20min into the footpath.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Should be fine; not as scrambly as I thought it would be. Larger dogs may struggle some.
Bugs
Bugs: None

Comments
Comments: Second hike of the day after some redlining in the Ossipees. For those wondering, this seems both accessible by car (parking and road plowed), and doable in winter (not too sketchy)! The trail was not as scrambly and ledgy as I thought it would be either. An ass kicker for sure, but any scrambling was fairly tame. One spot that's a tight squeeze. The rock wall I think the guidebook speaks of was not broken out correctly. This was the one spot where it was very difficult to discern where the true trail was, so I went every which way on the way down. In any event, this trail report is old, but I'll say that the snow was surprisingly deeper than in the Ossipees. It was postholed (badly at times) but broken out. The snow was somewhat supportive but also a bit wet and warm with temps around freezing. The boulder field is below tree line as is much of the ledge. Not as much ledge/views as I would have thought. No matter anyway as I was in cloud. Gaia had me at 2.6mi, 800ft of gain, 1hr55min.
