| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
The Gardner Memorial Wayside Park is not plowed in winter thus there is only roadside parking. It's very close, getting behind the white line. If you're worried about such things, you may want to bring a shovel. Someone had gone up the bank a little and I was able to follow and park angled and completely behind the white line. Another one or two came after me and without this advantage were just over the white line. |

I don't recall any blowdowns but there could be a few I'm forgetting. The trail is obviously marked with orange. I think markings were regular enough. |

Second hike of the day after a Bog Mtn traverse with a friend. The trail was well packed and though I used snowshoes the entire time, I think bareboots or spikes would've been fine as well. For whatever reason, my memory on this one is a bit fuzzy. The start of the loop was a bit obscure. The trail had many little ups and downs but was still quite easy. There were snowshoe tracks across the pond. There is an old mill site (signed) as the trail enters the woods on the right. A lot more snow and the sign could get covered. It is 0.1mi of flat walking to the old mill site and it was quite cool. I am surprised that this was not mentioned as a spur in the guidebook and it wouldn't surprise me if it were included in the next edition. |
