| Comments: |
Trail to Arethusa predictably well compacted. From there to Frankenstein Cliff trail is doable in spikes, easier with snowshoes. From that junction down to Ripley, there was only one set of snowshoe tracks to help locate the trail (blazes are quite variably visible), and snowshoes were the only way to go. Steep descent down to the base of Ripley is challenging; spikes might work better, but you'd be post-holing. Crossing below Ripley seemed more snowy than icy, and could be tricky if we get a warming spell. |
