Comments: I used microspikes till the Gem Pool (looked like most people barebooted), then used snowshoes for the rest of the hike. Spikes probably would've been a better choice for the Gulfside section that runs alongside Mt Clay to the top of Mt Jefferson; there were a lot of rocks sticking above the ice and snow. Jewell Trail above treeline had some postholes and soft snow, but below treeline it is nicely packed down.
