All have actual bridges - I love the DOC!! |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Everything looks pristine, and we very much appreciated the recent saw work above the “last known water” turn.
We wondered why there is a new “To Lodge” direction sign to the lodge, at the Gorge Brook / Snapper junction. Were people getting lost?! |

| Comments: |
We had a very beautiful sunrise hike, out and back via Gorge Brook (it was too cold for the ridge walk loop to Carriage Road). Trail conditions are wicked-fast with the cold temperatures , rock spikes were sufficient, and our snowshoes took a free ride. When it warms up tomorrow it may be problematic as the upper elevation trees are still laden with snow and ice. I would recommend raingear (for the snowbombs) and snowshoes (for mashed potato snow) if you are hiking in the warm temperatures forecasted for Saturday. |
