Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Snow/Ice - Postholes |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |

| Water Crossing Notes: |
1st water crossing is a sea of rocks, threatening to eat our spikes, and had me concerned for the conditions, but this was the only crossing not bridged |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
One walk under, one walk over, but otherwise the trail was MINT |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
4 Lovely doggos on the trail, which was nice! Too many piles of doggo poop beside the trail, which *wasn't* so nice…folks, do the “stick flick” if your poochie leaves a present in the line of fire |
|
| Bugs: |
One confused flying mosquito mimic, a determined spider, and TONS of snow fleas! |
|
| Lost and Found: |
Found: woman’s black JJilll sweatshirt. Brought it to the trailhead and draped it over the sign |

What a stunner of a day this turned out to be! Coming from CT this morning we feared the trails would be a puddle of slush, since the sun chose our arrival at 1215 to pop out from behind the permacloud the NE had been sporting all morning. Received some great trail intel from a pair of happy hikers in the parking lot, so proceeded with microspikes along Tecumseh Trail. The white sidewalk held strong, with zero postholing in our Hillsounds, despite the yellow orb above us. Both the left and right trails of the lollipop were broken out, and the views were pretty spiffy. We hung out on the summit testing our new bothy bag out, then used what our mama gave us for a fast and fun descent! |
