| Comments: |
Trails were in good shape overall and did not require snowshoes [except later in the day], however, microspikes were crucial and the first mile was icy. The temps were warm today, so as the day progressed the snow on the upper portions of the trail was increasingly unconsolidated [which is why snowshoes were actually required]. Once the colder weather returns, stronger traction (trail crampons) would be of benefit for the very steep portions between north and south. |
