Warm temperatures today meant sticky snow! Everyone I saw was in spikes, I preferred snowshoes for the steep sections (for the elevators) and going down they really helped prevent sliding. Going out and back to Flume, snow was really starting to get slushy in the sun and a lot of the snow from trees was falling down onto the trail. Spikes would have been sufficient but I was glad to have my snowshoes because they provide more stability in the clumpy snow. Not sure how the trails faired in the afternoon with the temps and they may have gotten rained on as well. |
