Comments
Comments: Mixed bag of weird weather this day. Sprinkles at the start with blue skies, then full sun, then brief rain showers on descent and clear skies at end of hike. We followed along a trail( bushwack) that had been busted out from the parking area all the way to the new washout on the road. I was able to bare boot all of this as it was still solid early on. Two in our party had snowshoes on from the start on one in spikes. We had to climb up to the road from the “Bushwack” it was nice to have the roadwalk portion shortened. We all were in snowshoes when we got to the part of the trail that the relentless climb begins. We saw only 5 others all day. Two were postholing their entire day while carrying snowshoes on their packs. With the warm temps and the brief rain showers, the trail got so soft that we even postholef a bit in snowshoes descending . We kept them on until back at the car. Snowmobilers and skiers were out on the road also enjoying the nice day. The signal ridge trail has been broken out in the full winter version utilizing the old route. Great day with April temps !
