Comments
Comments: With recent temps in the mid-30s and low 40’s trail is a mixed bag. Bare boots or micro spikes useful the first .6 miles, snowshoes the rest of the way up and back. Last .6 on the snowmobile trail might be done with micro spikes. No snowmobile traffic today as there as the trail is closed to snowmobilers waiting for more snow.
Travel better in the morning/early afternoon before the snow softens. Traveling down was sliding in the soft snow on the way down and occasional post hole (even with snowshoes). Evidence of recent hiker snowshoe activity to establish the path is slowly diapering as the snow softens. New snow coming this week is likely to erase that work by prior hikers some more. Suggest waiting for colder weather to make the hike easier to travel. Will need snowshoes to help reestablish the trail and deal with the 10-18” of snow over most of the trail.
Excellent views on top, could see many of the NH28/presidentials clearly.
