Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked along the Kanc (along with others) as the main parking area was almost full and we wanted to avoid the first water crossing. You have to traverse a steep plowed snowbank to get to the trailhead.

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Avoided the water crossing at Downes Brook by taking logging road to meet up with Mt. Potash Trail about .7 miles up. There are a few other small water crossings that are free of snow/ice, but easily doable.

Comments
Comments: POST-HOLEY ALL THE WAY! Parked along the Kanc and met two women who had just finished and both highly suggested snowshoes the entire way. We heeded that advice. I'm glad we did. However, the snow was very mashed-potato snow, so it took longer to walk than anticipated. And even though we both had snowshoes on we broke through the snow multiple times up to our knees/thighs. None of the eleven persons we met on the trail wore snowshoes. I fell eight times and found it difficult to right myself because the snow would break under me, especially at the final ascent/descent to the summit!
