Champney Falls Trail was in great condition this morning after a cold night. The trail was really firm so We chose spikes and carried our snow shoes for our ascent to Middle Sister. We spent the entire morning on all the trails leading to the summit dodging some of the biggest, deepest post holes any of us had seen! We thought it was really bad until we hit Middle Sister Trail to the summit. There were places where you had to step in the deep holes to get over some of the obstacles going to the top. It will be like this until there is more snow. Luckily the temps were just below freezing so we stayed on top of the snow. It was a perfect day, mostly blue skies, no wind, and beautiful views of all the mountains and the buildings on Mt Washington. |
