Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One section of the trail has tracks going off to the left a ways but that is not the trail as far as I could see on Gaia. The trail is to the right but at that juncture there is an old blow down or a pile of branches which looks as if it might be the kind of pile to suggest a re-route of the trail. There is still snow on top so I am not sure what is going on there. After going the wrong way, I turned back and went over the pile of sticks on the correct trail.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: This is a dog friendly trail.

Comments
Comments: This is a lovely trail around 2 miles up to the summit of Mount Israel. The lower section of forest has some huge trees that must be quite old. The lakes region has a certain feel to it and those who enjoy Morgan and Percival will also like this trail. As you gain some of the 1700 feet of elevation you can enjoy huge boulders with cool moss and lichen. Through the sparse winter trees I could see Squam Lake. There is an outlook around 1.5 miles or so which also looks to the lakes. The summit is small but open with views to the NW, North, and NE. On this day of the alleged snowstorm there was no snow yet. The trail was refrozen and perfect for microspikes. Some postholes exist but they were not too bad. I also had snowshoes with me in case of new snow but there wasn't any. Many parts of the trail are already dry with leaves or runoff water. But overall conditions were easy to deal with during the cold temperatures.
