Spectacular bluebird day. seasonally cold with some strong winds above treeline. Note there are deep and plentiful postholes from top to bottom, you can mostly find flat surfaces in the middle to walk on. Can't believe the disrespect for the trail and fellow hikers. It must have been a miserable hike for this group, hopefully they will abandon the sport ;-) Went up through the falls, well frozen good traction throughout. Then went up to the trail junction and went up to the first knob, this section is partially broken out but mostly postholes, made it easy to follow the trail. Spectacular views in all directions, I love this spot to view the frozen icy cone of Chocorua, strong winds but found a sunny spot with a wind block for lunch, fast track down in spite of the post holes |
