Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Mid-sized dirt parking area off of Crotched Mtn Rd with room for a half dozen to a dozen cars. It was very muddy this day. 2WD cars may have struggled some. Maybe three or four other cars there when I arrived at around 3pm that were leaving when I finished around 4:15. Room for at least a few others but take not of the signs that day you can only park on one side so as not to block logging trucks.

Comments
Comments: Second hike of the day after cleaning up the trails on Crotched Mtn from Farrington Rd. These two trails are arguably needed for SNH redlining. They are neither described with their own gray heading nor are they described within another trail description but they’re described within the general description of Crotched Mtn on pg 96.

Both trails are universally accessible. Gregg Trail ascends at a very gentle grade by switchbacks to a knoll with great views. Mix of bare Trail and melting snow. I descended Shannon’s Trail to get back to the parking area. The trail goes through what I believe is called “slash” here so I’d wear boots. I then hiked the Dutton Brook Trail which descends from the parking area to the loop jct via some switchbacks, then travels on the level around the beaver wetland. Some nice views as the sun was just beginning to go down :) Again, a mix of bare trail and melting snow. No one else out. Rather than switchback back to the parking area, once the trail neared the road, I walked to the road and ascended along the road to the parking area which was easier walking and much shorter. Gaia had me at 3mi, about 350ft of gain, 1hr22min.
