Comments
Comments: We arrived at the parking lot around 730. There was one car parked in the small lot near the trailhead and three cars in the larger lot. We chose to park in the small lot because the large one wasn’t plowed very well. Both of us wore snowshoes the whole day. We saw about 30 people wearing a range of crampons, microspikes, and snowshoes. I think snowshoes or crampons will get the job done but micro spikes did not have enough bite to them to break through the crusty trail. There was a couple inches of new snow on top of an uneven postholed track. The trail was solid but the new snow was not enough to cover the divots. There was a lot of angle twisting on the divots and frozen craters . Nice day to finish my winter 48!
