Comments
Comments: Nice views from the summit today but got there in the afternoon when the cold front was just coming through so a bit windy and chilly up top.

An interesting mix of dry trail and flow ice. First 100 yards is ice but quickly gives way to dry trail - a few patches of ice on the trail up to the bridge but easily navigated without traction. A frustrating mix of ice flows, dry trail and bare ledges from the steep section right below the view ledge across this ledge and then for maybe 1/2 mile above the ledges. Tral right before ledges after the steep pitch is a solid ice flow, a lot of ice and some bare rock heading across the view ledges. Above this a number of ledges with ice flows but bare ledges as well.

In the stretch from right before the view ledges for the next half mile traction is needed on the trail to cross/climb the ice but you'll either have to take off/put on a number of times or leave them on knowing you'll be dulling the tips on bare rock. Most people I saw today just bushwacked around the ice through the woods so they could just bareboot the stretch - final approach to the summit is bare rock.
