| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parking area not plowed this morning, but only a few inches of soft/new snow on what appears to be quite a lot of ice underneath. No problem with my AWD. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Snow - Drifts, Snow/Ice - Postholes |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
No problem walking across streams in snowshoes - water levels very low. One crossing partially bridged. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Nothing of note. A few “leaners” - I had no trouble walking underneath at 4’ 11” tall (my superpower), my 6’ 4”hiking partner had to duck several times! |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
No dogs seen, but this is not a bad trail for dogs I think (of course, I don’t have one) |
|
| Bugs: |
None - how nice! |

| Lost and Found: |
Nothing lost, nothing found |

| Comments: |
A beautiful day for this hike! More new snow than I was expecting - ranged from 4-6” depth down low to a foot up high, with some drifted areas, particularly up on the ridge. Most snow was soft/unconsolidated at the beginning of the day, more packed by the end of the day. Snowshoes definitely the footwear of choice, but we did see two young guys in skis (yes, backcountry skiing up and down!), several folks in snowshoes, two folks in spikes - making some nice new indentations! Lots of post holes from the warm up last weekend, hidden by the new snow in places. With all the folks out in snowshoes, trail was smoothed out a bit on the way down. |
