Comments
Comments: The upper part of Holt is very icy. We had a couple of sliding falls about 2/3 of the way up, brought to a halt by trees, and did the last 1/3 roped for safety. We had mountaineering axes and crampons, but the ice was very hard. A pair of ice tools would have felt more secure.

The lower part of Holt is post-holed out the wazoo. We snowshoed off to the side to avoid twisting an ankle.
