First one on the trail this morning. I did the loop C'Clockwise. A dusting of snow on the trail from last night and the trail was firm enough just for spikes. The west side of the loop had at least a gazillion deep postholes. I lost count around 2,000+. The East side fared a little better with a smoother track. The ridge and East ledges had some minor drifting and was churned up quite a bit. I wonder what consumes more energy, making the postholes or navigating thru them? The track was a narrow one, so it would have been difficult to try to smooth it out with snowshoes. I wore my Hillsound Pros car to car and they worked great. Nice sunny day in the woods. |
