Comments: Carrie planned this one on all trails so I just followed along, since I don't have it installed.

Surprised how shallow the snow is on monadnock, maybe a couple of inches. Oddly, the bottom of my boots were icy by tree line and I was forced to put on my traction just to get up dry rock. Traction started on until Birtchtoft.

The summit was windy AF, so we hastily retested down Pompelly, were we enjoyed some piping hot tomato soup. Yum! It's funny that it didn't burn our mouths, but did burn our throats. Must be the cold air? The sun was very warm when the wind was blocked.

Carrie continued to lead on the Pompelly, I with no idea of what the plan was. That's trust. She meant to take us down red dot, but missed the turn, so we decided screw it, we'll try spellman down in micros. Short day so we could always climb back up it got too hairy.

Some major ice flows and thin slippery snow made Carrie crying once, but we made it down without any falls. We decided to visit the pond on the left over adrenaline, but it wore off around Hinkley, and we got hungry, so we beelined it back to the parking lot.

Hinkley was a new trail for us. It was completely unbroken, but there was only about an inch of powder on consolidated base or wet leaves and rocks. Lovely woods with minor ups and downs, lots of animal tracks and a stretch along a Brook. All crossings, no matter how small, were bridged. I imagine this would make a nice xc ski route.

We went to the golf course for post hike burgers and beers. Another lovely day in the woods.
