Comments
Comments: A beautiful day up there! Climbed up Ammo with snowshoes (televators for the win!), a few icy patches and very compacted snow from butt sliding, but the snowshoes worked fine to the hut. Lots of ice around the hut. We put on our full crampons there and left them on until we got back down to the soft snow on jewell. I was very happy for the traction, but saw folks managing in snowshoes and various light traction. Above treeline is very solid “boiler plate” frozen snow, made for easy walking in crampons. A few small snowdrifts, but nothing worthy of putting our snowshoes back on. Put the snowshoes on just above treeline on jewell, when the snow got super soft. The lower section of Jewell definitely wanders off the actual trail in several places.
