Comments
Comments: Spikes all the way for me. Greeley Ponds Trail (true Trail not XC trail) was nicely packed and barely postholed, same with Mt. Osceola Trail. The steep sections were manageable in fairly new spikes and also by walking on the sides of the luge track. Plenty of opportunity on the edges to get you up, and a fun challenge if you stay on the track. Trees are a great help, too. I didn't consider switching out from my Hillsounds but whatever makes you most comfortable getting up. A bit of snowfall picked up and lots of wind as I approached the summit of East around 415 as anticipated - and though I thought it was just a passing squall, I decided not to spin the wheel at that hour and saved Osceola for another time. The descent wasn't too bad - I personally am not a huge fan of glissading down if I can avoid it (something about visions of crashing into trees..) and believe it or not I managed to stay upright on the entire descent (if you're wondering if it's possible). Darkness just falling as I made it back out to the road, be careful when you're walking out there. All in all a fairly quick and rather enjoyable hike!
