Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The 5th editions descriptions are outdated. I do not recall seeing any signs except for where trails are now closed because landowners on the west side closed them, but the trails are mostly or all blazed. I *think* the carriage rd was blazed in yellow and other routes in either green or blue. Some debris down near the start of the trail I think that was the only "blowdown".

Comments
Comments: First hike of the day. The guidebook's description is outdated and will hopefully be simpler in the 6th edition. The simplest thing to do is probably to just follow the old carriage rd. If you're redlining and wish to follow the guidebook's description, make sure not to miss the left-hand turn at 0.1mi. Going straight ahead seems to make much more sense. I believe Switchback Trail, according to the maps at the trailhead, is also the carriage rd. Again, if following the guidebook, go straight through this jct, soon coming to a 4-way jct and go straight again and descend to the gate. From there to the summit is more straightforward. Loops could be made on your way down. Feel free to email if you'd like a track that'll help you to redline the correct paths; I didn't get it right on my way up.

It had snowed some overnight and in the morning so there was a light dusting of snow which I'm sure is all gone now. Beyond that, I think trails were dry and frozen. Some "drifts" of a few inches that were real cute, lol. Not much for views that day as I was in the clouds. Despite all my to and froing with redlining, I still only ended up with 1mi, 175t of gain, 33min.
