Comments
Comments: We started in microspikes but snowshoes may have been better. Going up Avalon wasn’t too difficult… even though it had been butt slid on previous days there was no significant ice and there were some boot/light traction tracts adjacent to most butt slid areas. Switched to snowshoes on Avalon T and that was a good choice. Barefooted last mile. Entire trail was great packed snow. Postholes were easily avoided. Saw 5 others… only 1 went to Willey as far as we could tell. We would have gone if we had an earlier start. We did not feel any wind the whole day. Mild temps.
