We weren’t sure how the day would go as we drove up in snowy conditions. Conflicting weather reports regarding wind speed& happy to report that wind speed was low. Trails had 1-2” of new snow over hard trail with areas of low drifts. We wore snowshoes to the hut then switched to light traction for the rest of the day. The snow was sticky, which caused frequent snow balls on our spikes. We saw 6 other hikers (nice to meet up with Deborah from our Lowell & Anderson hike) so Valley Way is well packed out. One person planned to descend via Airline so there’s one set of tracks there. |
