This was our first winter Morgan-Percival loop, and we had a great day for it! Sunny and warm but with a stiff breeze on the ridge, and great views of the lakes. I’d highly recommend for the winter route to head up Percival first, take the cliff trail (minimal ice and exposed rock made for good traction), then over and down Morgan bypassing the ladders. Snow conditions were good overall, a nice frozen pack for spikes and the only bad postholing was up on the ridge. You might consider rock spikes for this one, there was a lot of exposed ground and rock and I winced every time I stepped in my good spikes. |
