| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
The winter lot is plowed. Thank you! |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
The single-crossing summer route is not currently broken out; everyone is hiking via the triple-crossing winter route (the old way). Water levels are currently low so this is a nice option! |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
There are a series of duck unders starting less than 0.25 miles from the trailhead and scattered all the way up to the sunmit (including a doozy between Signal Ridge and the summit). All are easy to get under; I am down for the saw party in the spring. Let me know!! |

| Comments: |
The washout on Sawyer River Road is very impressive.
The relocation at 0.6 miles from the trailhead is not broken out and everyone is barreling straight through the old way.
Footing is pristine - there are a minimal number of postholes on the trail edges, and the middle of the trail is firm. Things are a little mushy / drifted in the usual spots - just below Signal Ridge and then between Signal Ridge and the summit, but with today’s cold temperatures this was not a problem. Light traction for the win today, but if you tackle this during the warmup this week you will definitely want your snowshoes!!
I teamed up with Mike T and we had a great day. It was fantastic to meet Elizacal in person, to meet Dave and Amy in person, and to see Arm for the second time in less than a week! |
