| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parked at Crawford Path Trailhead ($5 WMNF fee). Lot was icy, but had been heavily sanded so shouldn't cause any major issues. Probably room for a good 2 dozen or so cars parked well, and there were only a few spots left when I started around 11:30. One of 6 or so cars when I finished shortly after 4. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Ice - Blue, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
All well snowbridged. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
May have been a couple minor blowdowns, but none of any note. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Should be fine up Pierce, but some of the narrower/steeper drop offs on Eisenhower may be a bit dodgy. |
|
| Bugs: |
None |
|
| Lost and Found: |
Did see a red & black pack just off the trail, about 1/3rd mile from the Mizpah Cutoff junction on Crawford Path around 3:30 p.m. Left it there assuming someone would be back for it. |

| Comments: |
Such a spectacular day! Trails were in great shape--well packed with practically no postholes in sight. Started getting a bit softer between Pierce and the Mizpah hut by mid-afternoon, but spikes were more than sufficient throughout. A few spots heading up on Mt. Eisenhower Loop trail to the summit were slightly more slick from the snow beginning to soften and occasional ice, which, combined with some more narrow/exposed sections of the trail required a bit more care, but all in all it was very easygoing out and back. Gaia @ 9.51 mi, 3,069' gain, 4 hrs 20 min. |
