Lot as expected was not plowed. Parked on route 115. Plenty of shoulder to work with. Only my car when I started at 9 am, and only mine upon returning. |

Maybe four blowdowns on slope up to ridge. All with step under/overs or well tracked walk arounds |

Mt Martha would be good, but super steep final section near Owl’s Head would be prohibitive imo |

Cold start to day. Track was well packed with just a few post holes along the way. I think I was the only hiker out here today. Encountered one respectful snowmobile as I was on final approach to Martha summit. Views were truly spectacular. Did Martha’s Mile over to Owls Head…. Pretty well tracked out. Very steep final push (two short snow covered scrambles), and rewarded with views. Went up to OH high point beyond the ledge. Only got back down to col w assistance of a few trees and long stretches to next foot/hand hold. Three snowmobiles at Martha summit upon return. Fast descent. Beautiful hike with a great track. |
