| Comments: |
Less than ideal shoulder seasons on this trail, which is usually one of the first in the greater Lakes Region to melt each "spring." Patches of snow and ice to start, becoming consistent snow/ice/emerging monorail about 0.75 miles in. The blue ice was rather firm this afternoon, so Microspikes were not getting purchase. Hillsounds would have been better. Frozen granular was fine for Microspikes. About a foot of snowpack in the higher elevations (likely more on the north facing slopes), so snowshoes would be needed if venturing off the main trail.
Partly sunny afternoon with temperatures in the 20s and stiff winds. |
