| Comments: |
Did a loop over Cannon from Lafayette Place (Eastside) lot > Lonesome Lake Trail > Hi-Cannon Trail > Kinsman Ridge Trail > Pemi Trail (section next to Profile Lake) > Bike Path back to car. Brought way too many different options for traction (Snowshoes, Katoola Microspikes, and BD Crampons) and ended up in the microspikes the whole time. No issues with traction going up Hi-Cannon but you'll definitely want something. Top of the ridge was packed snow for the most part and frozen. Coming down Kinsman Ridge I was tempted to change into the crampons given all the exposed ice in the trail but it had warmed up enough that microspikes were grabbing fine. If I had gone earlier in the day I probably would have needed the crampons.
Beautiful day at the summit, almost zero wind and bright sun. Might be the nicest weather I've had up there in any season now that I think about it. |
