Comments
Comments: We enjoyed Carr Mountain from the Clifford Brook Rd side-a nice stiff climb to the summit on a sunny day. There has been quite a bit of logging right near the start of the trail and the heavy logging equipment has been over the initial half mile or so pretty well -the trail is still easy enough to follow through this area -stick to straight ahead. We lucked out and heard a Barred Owl as we headed to Waternomee Falls - incredible ice formations at the falls. We returned and continued up to the summit -meeting only one other person. Currently trail is hard packed - bare boots or rock spikes were just fine. We enjoyed some boreal chickadees at the summit and loads of sunshine! On the way out to head home we checked out the NH State Fish Hatchery and Appleknockers. If anyone is looking for a gas station/ convenience store/gardening supplies/hardware/hay/animal feed/NH souvenirs etc. Appleknockers will have you covered- cool local store.
