| Comments: |
Great weather day, trail conditions are very mixed - used ExoSpikes up to the 1/2 way point on Barlow, could have continued in them, but I was guiding a group of 6th graders, so opted to give the kids the experience of changing footwear to hiking crampons and walking confidently across and up the frozen waterfall-esque ascent. Continued in hiking crampons the rest of the day, as conditions around and above treeline were mixed ice, stable snow and bare rock. Going down Winslow on the descent, more snow on that trail, but, with continuing warm weather and expected rain, things will soften much more. No use for snowshoes currently, but, postholing may get worse as the days go on. |
