| Comments: |
The lowest .7 or so of the trail was a combo of mud, lingering soft ice and patches of snow. Above, snow cover increased with elevation and became a firm, packed footway all the way to Waumbek's summit. A monorail was beginning to form in places. By our descent, the lower portion of the trail was getting slushy and the snowpack was shrinking. We carried snowshoes but never wore them as spikes were efficient and we were leaving no prints. The forecasted warm weather this week will change all this and snowshoes will soon be required as the deeper snow up high deteriorates.
Nice hike with Chris. Not much for views but the woods were lovely. |
