Comments
Comments: Today the trail was more akin to mid April than early March. You can tell this trail has been well traveled, however there is already an elevated monorail for the first half mile, which with the recent rains and warmth is very unstable and collapses with every step. Further up the snow deepens but remains soft and waterlogged. Many postholes revealed a stream running on the trail below the snowpack. I barebooted, my friend was in snowshoes. Neither choice made a difference. We could only move at half our normal pace and called it off only one mile in.
